Killer Best Man Speeches: Part 1

Let’s get straight to the point here: Great best man speeches can be tricky to pull off unless you prepare well. It’s one of your main duties as best man to deliver an entertaining speech that’s memorable for all the right reasons, so you’re bound to be a little nervous or anxious to do a good job. Good preparation for public speaking is the ultimate killer of nerves. Here’s how to make sure you’re confident and ready to do your audience proud…

Learn your lines. A good way to do this is to practise at home, in front of people. It might feel weird doing this at first, but it’s a great way of getting used to your routine.
Avoid drinking too much alcohol until after the speech. That way you’ll have your head together and be able to remember your lines easily. It’ll also save a lot of embarassment if things go wrong.
Say it with a smile – If you look like you don’t really want to be standing there giving a speech, your audience will feel awkward.
What ever you say, say it with a smile. You’ll feel better, makes it much easier for your audience to laugh at your jokes.

Use plenty of one-liners and funny stories to spice things up a little – it’s your job to entertain.
Don’t waffle or go on for too long.
NEVER mention the groom’s ex wife or ex girlfriends!

There are plenty of places online to find good material for your speech. Take a look at this best man speeches page for some more useful tips on delivering a successful speech.

Gone are the days of meringue-like frocks – now with fabulous creations from Vera Wang, star-spangled shoes from Jimmy Choo and an uber-glam range of wedding lingerie from Agent Provocateur, weddings are firmly back on the fashion radar. And while the chances are celeb bride to be Kate Moss has got her very own wedding planner, a glamorous new range of wedding products from WeddingAccessories.uk.com means you don’t have to.

The stylish and compact range of wedding planning products is as helpful, thoughtful and practical as a personal wedding planner, but significantly easier on the purse strings – leaving you with more money to spend on the details of your special day.

The highlight of the range is a wedding planner, complete with a unique secret compartment so the bride can keep details of her dress private from her partner but they can still share the planning together. The planner is a simple, easy-to-use folder with sections for everything from cars to flowers. It offers straightforward, calming advice while steering clear of endless to-do lists. It also provides lots of useful space for the numerous business cards, cuttings, clippings, jottings, brochures and everything else of interest which may catch a bride’s eye during the many months leading up to the big day. It offers great scope for creativity whilst helping the bride remain focused and firmly in control.

Other products include save-the-date cards, memory boxes (for storing mementoes and essentials, both before and after the event—from the all-important rings to the bridesmaids’ favours) and a wedding organiser, which provides the perfect place to keep all those pesky invoices.

The whole range is available exclusively online at www.WeddingAccessories.uk.com along with useful hints and tips for future brides, the latest wedding news and essential links and resources from cake makers to bridal boot camps.

The products are not only helpful: they’re also beautiful. The subtle white, gold and silver designs mean it won’t look out of place in any home or at any wedding and the range provides every couple with lasting memories of their special day, in one complete stylish package.

The brains behind the products is 28 year old, Michelle Edgar-Parsons who created the products during the planning of her own wedding. A self confessed ‘Monica’, Michelle’s in-depth research into the market showed that wedding-related personal organisers and folders already existed, but they were often over-complicated, with often confusing information that wouldn’t be relevant to most brides. As a result, Michelle decided to tackle the market head-on, and created a range of products that is proving to be the must-have helping hand for every bride.

Created using Michelle’s first hand experiences, the helpful, friendly and practical advice helps all brides create that perfect day.

Pick the Perfect Wedding Gown – Fast!

For many brides, bridal gown shopping is their favorite part of the wedding. They spend every Saturday for months visiting bridal shops with their entourage, trying on one fabulous gown after another. In fact, there are brides who love trying on gowns so much that they have a hard time committing to one and ending the fun. However, there are also those women who hate shopping and want to get in and get out with their dress as quickly as possible. This is your cheat sheet on how to pick the perfect wedding gown – fast!

If you hate shopping for clothes, then the mere thought of tackling wedding gown shopping is going to be enough to make you break out in hives. Spending countless hours sorting through a sea of white dresses and standing on a pedestal for all the world to see is probably not your idea of a good way to spend your afternoons. I have good news for you: it is possible to eliminate the multiple trips and long hours at the bridal salon; in fact, many a bride chooses her gown in the first shop, or sometimes even orders the very first gown she tries on. It is all a matter of having a targeted plan of attack before you hit the first bridal shop.

When you are trying to find your gown with as little wasted time as possible, the first thing to do is choose your entourage wisely. Do not, repeat, do not bring more than two people with you. For every additional friend or family member that comes to your appointment, your chance of walking out of there with a gown plummets. Wedding dress shopping is a case of “too many chefs spoil the soup”. When you have five different women, each with her own opinion, it becomes impossible to make a decision. You will also end up spending a lot of time trying on gowns because your aunt or sister wants to see them on you, even though you know that they are not contenders to be “the one”.

A much better approach is to bring just one or two trusted advisors, or even to shop alone. After you have ordered your gown, make an appointment to bring the whole gang back to see it and help you pick out all of your accessories, from your veil, to the tiara, to a pretty set of pearl bridal jewelry. They will still feel included, and you will be spared an immeasurable amount of hassle.

Be prepared before you set out. Make an appointment. Many bridal shops cannot accommodate walk-ins, and even if they can, you will find your task much easier if you have a professional on hand to help you sort through all the gowns. You will also find it easier to envision what each gown will look like if you are wearing the right sort of undergarments (there is nothing worse than trying on strapless gowns with bra straps showing). If you have your mother’s antique veil or pearl bridal jewelry to wear on your wedding day, bring it with you so the consultant can help you find a gown that complements it. It also helps to have some idea of what styles of gowns appeal to you, or at the very least to know what you definitely do not want to try on.

Finally, when you are trying to choose your wedding gown with a minimum of fuss and effort, go into your appointment prepared to be decisive. I can’t tell you how many brides I have seen fall in love with a gown but be unable to commit to it on the spot because they did not expect to find a gown so quickly. Remember that the point of your appointment at the bridal shop is not just to try on gowns to see what looks good, but to actually find your perfect gown. When you find a wedding dress that makes you look and feel amazing, have the confidence to stop shopping right then and there and to say, “yes, this is my dress!”.
